Topic: Better keyword search

I'm NOT satisfied with default keyword search (actually, there is only "exact phrase" search by default)... so, there's no keyword(s) search at all...

Let say there's and ad with name/description "Auto Renault XYZ". Now, if you search for "Auto XYZ" you won't get that ad as a result...


So, I made a little hack for "google" style keyword search... ;-)

Yo can test it on my test-site (phpbb-phpclassifieds integration)...

phpClassifieds:
http://phpbb-phpclassifieds.osijek031.c … search.php

Test 1:
enter only "ad"

Test 2:
enter "ad soul"

Test 3:
enter "soul my"

u was used the command explode than i was menthioned a lot of time ago.

also i was implemented another good tricks, my website can search better with the keywords
but ur mod and my mod is old...

now i'm working for adding a spider in my site for make better search engine into my site, it would be a function of auto completition and -did u mean.... ?- also another tricks like the time of the query, the total results founded and it will have the exact keywords bolded too.

I think better way to is crawl the site by cron and add keywords to the separate table. Then search in table instead of use like search in TEXT fields. It will work faster. Are you developing it for English language? This will not work correctly with many other languages with difficult grammar.

I think the best way is to use ready made class for keyword searching. And just integrate it with PHP C. I think something like that should be on phpclasses.org

is for latinoamerican spanish and it can be easy work for english too.
