i also noticed that the instructions on the website mention a table called "config".
this table does not exist.
this may be a clue to someone.

I have had the same problem:
Table creation/alteration failed. Maybe tables already exists ?DEBUGINFO:

i checked before the page executed the code, and the tables were not created. however, they were created afterwards.
i continued to the end of the install.
however, when i look at the frontpage, for example, i get stuff like:
Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/rowledge/html/public_html/classified/links.php on line 73
or when i click on Browse Picture, i get:
Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/rowledge/html/public_html/classified/picturebrowse.php on line 18
it seems that somthing went wrong on the table creation that has upset the whole set up.
